Advice For Riding With A Toddler On Board

When you secure a kid onto your bicycle there are some safety concerns that you want to be sure and cover off, besides the obvious like everyone should wear a helmet.
When you mount a seat on to your bicycle, you have some issues that need to be checked off before you and your baby ride off into the sunset.

It is vital to realize that the added weight of a baby on your bicycle will change where the center of gravity is. It’s important that you have a good quality, strong bicycle with a sound frame, at the very least; to insure both you and your baby will be safe.

Cheryl Elmo is the examiner for a respected bicycle NGO working to help make sure that bikers remain safe and don’t forget some basic safety rules.

“Make sure that you are a capable cyclist as the centre of gravity is higher and how your bicycle handles and feels will change,” said Cheryl Elmo.
“Ensure that when you start out, that you are paying attention, don’t reach around to grab something or get out something, that is often when the bicycle will tip over and can be tricky,” said Cheryl Elmo.

Select the ride that you take with care, and try to stay off busy roads as often they have a lot of confusion that make cycling with a baby on board tricky and hazardous. “If you are able to take quieter side routes it is likely the better thing for you and for your baby,” said Cheryl Elmo.
